Hi everyone! I’m back with another project inspired by the latest Lawn Fawn Challenge – Awesome Autumn. Seeing this theme made me excited and motivated me to pull out my fall stamp sets!
Autumn is my favorite season. I love watching the leaves change color, feeling the cool crisp air, and getting a break from the hot summer weather! I also love creating fall-themed cards because the warm, cozy color palette is so much fun to create with.
This time, I decided to make shaker tags. Tags add such a special finishing touch to a gift, and shaker tags in particular always feel extra fun and festive. For this project, my colors were inspired by one of the patterned papers from Lawn Fawn’s Favorite Flannel Fall 6×6 Petite Paper Pack.
Supplies Used:
Stamps & Coordinating Dies
Dies
Stencils
Paper
Inks & Coloring
- Distress Oxide Ink: Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Fossilized Amber, Scattered Straw, Crushed Olive, Forest Moss, Tattered Rose, Crackling Campfire
- Copics: E34, E31, E30 (brown), W5, W3, W1, W0, W00 (grey); R20, R00 (pink)
Tag-Making Process
Sketching and Stamping
I started with a rough sketch of the tags I wanted to make. Once I had my plan, I stamped all the images onto Hammermill 100lb cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink, cut them out with the coordinating dies, and colored everything with Copics. To give the mice extra detail, I finished them with white gel pen accents.
Cutting and Coloring the Leaves
I cut out a whole pile of leaves with the Fall Leaves Border die and ink blended them in cozy autumn shades: blues with Tumbled Glass and Broken China, yellows with Fossilized Amber and Scattered Straw, greens with Crushed Olive and Forest Moss, soft pink with Tattered Rose, and a fiery orange-red with Crackling Campfire.

Building the Shaker Frames
For the shaker frames, I used the Stitched Circle Frames die. I cut out eighteen frames from white cardstock and glued them into sets of six to make three sturdy frames. From the patterned paper that inspired my colors, I cut three more frames and glued acetate to the back of each one. Once they were dry, I attached these completed acetate frames onto the three sturdy frames I had made earlier.

Creating the Backgrounds
Next, I worked on the backgrounds. I cut six circle tags from white cardstock using the Stitched Circle Tags die. On three of them, I blended Tumbled Glass Distress Oxide Ink over the Cloudy Stencil to make a sky background. Then I used the Autumn Breeze Stencil to add softly falling leaves with the same ink colors I had used for the die cut leaves. I repeated the same process on the other two tags.

After filling the shaker windows with seed beads, sequins, and clear confetti, I glued the stenciled backgrounds onto the frames to seal everything together. I took the remaining three tags and glued them to the back of each sealed tag so they would have a more finished look.
Adding the Grass
To add some grass at the bottom of each tag, I cut green paper from the Watercolor Wishes Rainbow Collection Pack with the Grassy Hillside Borders die. To make sure the grass fit perfectly inside the tags, I trimmed it again with the Stitched Circle Frames die.
Assembling the Tags
Finally, I played around with the placement of the leaves at the bottom of each tag until I was happy with the arrangement. Some were glued flat, others popped up with foam tape for dimension. I added each mouse into the pile of leaves, added twine to the top, and loved seeing my original sketch come to life.
Final Thoughts
These shaker tags were such a joy to make. Even though the process has several steps, it never feels overwhelming. Once you get into the rhythm, it’s actually relaxing! I especially loved blending the leaves. Experimenting with different ink colors always sparks new ideas, and I discovered a few combinations I’ll definitely use on future projects.
What I love most about tags is how much personality they can add to a gift. They’re small, but they have such an impact. Shaker tags in particular always feel playful and extra special, and I’m so happy with how these turned out.
Do you enjoy making tags or have you tried making shaker tags before? I’d love to hear about your projects or see what you’ve been creating. Thanks so much for stopping by, and I hope you leave feeling inspired for your own autumn crafting!
