Mama Elephant A Little Wish Window Card

Mama Elephant A Little Wish

Hi everyone! It’s hard to believe October is already coming to an end! Today, I’m sharing a clean and simple window card made with the adorable moose from the Mama Elephant A Little Wish stamp set.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I picked up several products from Mama Elephant’s 13th Anniversary release. Most were winter themed, and I finally had the chance to start creating holiday cards with them!

I’ve already shared two cards (arched shaped and scallop circle shaped) from this set on Instagram featuring the bunny, bear, fox, and squirrel. This time, I decided to highlight the moose with one of my favorite layouts: a clean and simple card with a window.

Creating the Window

Making this type of window card is easy and only requires a die that can cut out a window from a card panel. I usually blend a sky inside the window and add a hill or grass at the bottom to create a mini scene within the window.

For this project, I used the Mama Elephant Basic Set Creative Cuts to cut both the smaller stitched rectangle and the larger scalloped rectangle. Then I used the fifth largest Mama Elephant Stacked Circles Creative Cuts to cut a circle from the smaller rectangle.

I love how this circle die leaves a stitched border around the opening because it adds such a nice, finished touch to the window.

Building the Background

Next, I used the hill die from the Mama Elephant Slimline Card Basics Creative Cuts to cut a snowy hill from white cardstock.

For the background behind the window, I cut a piece of cardstock slightly larger than the circle opening and blended Distress Ink in Uncharted Mariner and Peacock Feathers to create a sky. I kept the top darker and faded to a lighter shade toward the bottom.

Then I mixed a bit of water with white acrylic paint and gently splattered it over the blended background to create falling snow.

After the paint dried, I adhered the background onto the larger scalloped rectangle, making sure everything was going to line up perfectly for when I added the smaller window piece.

Assembling the Card

I added the snowy hill, then attached the smaller rectangle (with the circle opening) on top using foam tape for dimension.

To finish the card panel, I used the largest die from the Waffle Flower A2 Layers Die set to cut a rectangle from patterned paper that coordinated with the ink-blended sky. I then adhered all the pieces onto this paper to create a colored border around the entire panel.

Finally, I colored the moose image from the A Little Wish stamp set with the following Copic markers and placed it inside the window.

  • deer: E44, E43, E42, E41, R20
  • scarf & boots: R39, R29, R27, R24
  • tree: G28, G24, G21

I glued the panel to a top folding card base and added some gel pen highlights to the image to finish the card. I love how this simple design highlights the cute moose while keeping the overall look soft and wintery.

Final Thoughts

I love how this window card came together! It’s a simple design that still feels special and wintery. I hope this inspires you to try making a clean and simple window card of your own this upcoming holiday season.
