Today I am so excited to be sharing another version of a box card that is new to my collection! Mama Elephant released the Slim Scenescape Builder and a Rainbow add-on some time ago, and it’s been on my wish list ever since. I finally ordered it and couldn’t wait to try it out! For this project, I paired the these dies with the adorable critters from the Up With Love stamp set.
It had been a while since I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens, so I pulled them out to color the images. Here are the colors I used:
- Bear: 72, 71, 201
- Chick: 50, 52, 70, 201
- Fox: 67, 61, 71
- Bunny: 900, 201
- Balloons: 45, 41, 21, 222, 83, 36
Because I don’t have a large collection of colored cardstock, I often use Distress Inks to add color to die cuts like rainbows. I love this method because it gives me more flexibility. I can customize the shades using the inks I already have. For this card, I used:
- Festive Berries
- Crackling Campfire
- Mustard Seed
- Twisted Citron
- Salvaged Patina
- Shaded Lilac
To finish the background, I die-cut a cloud edge and used it as a stencil to blend soft clouds along the sides, bottom, and backdrop. After arranging the critters and balloons, I attached them with acetate strips to create dimension and movement.
This card was such a joy to make! I love the extra space the slimline format provides for building a scene, and I know I’ll be reaching for these dies again. I’m already excited to create more slimline box cards with other Mama Elephant stamp sets!
Thanks for stopping by! – Mona
