My First Blog Post – Simple Birthday Card

Welcome to my first blog post! I am excited to be sharing all my handmade creations with you. This morning, the weather was a pretty gloomy, and I was free for a change, so I decided to spend some time in my craft room.

As I was going through my stamps, I came across the Beary Special Birthday stamp set from My Favorite Things. It has been a while since I have used it and thought it would be perfect for a birthday card. The bears are so cute, and I like all the different ways they are posing! This set was released back in July 2016, but it is still available at My Favorite Things if you are interested in purchasing it.

To make this card, I picked the image of the bear holding a birthday cake and stamped it on a piece of white card stock. I colored the image using Copic markers and cut it out using the coordinating die. Then I cut a circle out of white card stock using Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Circle Dies (I used the 2.75” diameter circle). I taped the bear onto the circle using foam tape so that the image would pop up and have some dimension.

Next, I used the Lawn Fawn’s Outside In Stitched Rectangle die to cut the patterned background (4”x5.25”).

I heat embossed the sentiment onto coordinating colored cardstock and cut it out in a banner shape. I glued the circle with the attached bear and banner onto the patterned background.

I finished the card by gluing the entire piece it to a heavyweight top folding card base measuring 4.25” x 5.5” (A2).

This card is super simple to make, and you can use any pattern or color of paper of your choice. You can use any markers you have and use another type of circle and rectangular dies if you do not own stitched ones.
