Hello! After a fun 4th of July, I was back in my craft room and decided to change things up and make some gift tags. I used the current My Favorite Things color challenge to guide me. The colors were challenging for me because they are not colors I would typically put together! Challenges have helped to take me out of my comfort zone and forced me to try different things, which is why I am enjoying them!
I started this project by cutting out two gift tags from heavyweight card stock using my Cricut Explore Air.
Flower Birthday Tag
I stamped images from MFT’s Sending a Smile stamp set onto one of the gift tags. I colored the images and background with colored pencils. Next, I cut out a strip of patterned grey card stock and glued it to the bottom of the tag. I stamped a happy birthday sentiment onto some white card stock using purple ink. I trimmed it down and created a fishtail on one end and glued it onto the patterned grey strip. To finish the tag, I tied on some white and purple ribbon.
Bear Birthday Tag
I decided to make this tag slightly smaller. To do this, I cut off the top portion and punched a hole in the top middle. Then, I stamped images from MFT’s Beary Special Birthday stamp set. Next, I colored in the bear, balloon, and gift boxes using my colored pencils. I stamped a happy birthday sentiment onto red colored card stock using some versamark ink and heat embossed it with white embossing powder. I cut it into the same fishtail shape as my first tag and glued it down on the bottom. Instead of ribbon, I fed some twine through the hole at the top.
I plan on making some more gift tags to add to my collection, and when I do, I will share them with you! They are fun to make because you can make them for so many different occasions and in a variety of sizes. They add a lovely touch to a gift bag or box.
