Shining Star

Lawn Fawn Upon a Star

Hello friends! Today I decided to make a bookmark for Lawn Fawn’s latest challenge.

I decided to use the small bunny, fox, and stars from the Lawn Fawn Upon a Star stamp set. This stamp set is perfect for a galaxy background which I haven’t done in a very long time!

How to create bookmark:

Galaxy Background
  1. Cut a piece of watercolor paper to 2 inches wide by 6 inches high
  2. Blend on distress ink in fossilized amber, picked raspberry, seedless preserves, chipped sapphire, and black soot to create a galaxy background – spritz water and blot with a paper towel – set aside
Grassy Hillside Border and Sentiment
  1. Cut a piece of watercolor cardstock with Lawn Fawn’s Grassy Hillside Border die – make sure to cut a length long enough to fit sentiment on the bottom
  2. Blend on distress ink in mowed lawn over the cut hillside
  3. Spread anti-static powder over the hillside and stamp sentiment in versamark ink
  4. Cover the stamped sentiment with white embossing powder and set with a heat tool
  5. Add glue to the back and attach to the bottom of the bookmark – cut off any excess with a scissor
Stars
  1. Spread anti-static powder over the galaxy background
  2. Stamp on various constellations and single stars over the background with versamark ink
  3. Cover the stamped images with white embossing powder and set with a heat tool
  4. Add on additional stars with a white gel pen
Bunny and Fox
  1. Stamp the small bunny and fox onto some watercolor paper with versafine black onyx ink – cover with clear embossing powder and heat set
  2. Color images with Arteza real brush pens or watercolor of choice
  3. Fussy cut images or using coordinating dies – attach onto the hillside
Last Steps
  1. Cut a piece of heavyweight card stock to 2 inches wide by 6 inches tall – glue to the back of the bookmark
  2. Punch a hole on top of the bookmark and insert ribbon

Bookmarks are a lot of fun to make and are great gifts to give to the avid readers of all ages in your life! You can make them in different sizes and use so many different types of stamps. I plan on sharing more bookmarks in future posts! Thanks for stopping by! – Mona
