My Favorite Things Party Like a Pirate

Hello! Usually, my Monday’s are hectic, but for some reason, I was more free than usual today. So, I decided to make a card using the latest My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge as my inspiration. This sketch is interesting because it uses a tag as the main feature of the card. I love making gift tags and bookmarks so I thought I would give this sketch a try.

I decided to use My Favorite Things Party Like a Pirate for this card. My son used to love pirates when he was young and still does! That is what drew me to this cute stamp set. The idea I had in my head was to try and create a treasure hunt map color as the background for the tag. I had some tan marbled color card stock that I thought would work well. To create the look of something old, I blended antique lines distress ink along the edges.

I colored all the images using Copic markers and cut them out with my Scan N Cut. Next, I stamped the sentiment out onto white cardstock with Versafine Black Onyx ink, covered it with clear embossing powder, and heat set it. Then, I attached everything onto the tag. To add some shimmer, I covered the coins with my Wink of Stella pen. I cut out a piece of blue string and tied it to the top of the tag. Next, I put some foam tape onto the back of the tag and centered it onto blue patterned cardstock cut with a stitched rectangle die. To finish the card, I attached the card panel to a top folding A2 size notecard.

I had fun making this card and was so happy I had some free time on what usually a very busy start to the week!

Thanks for stopping by! – Mona
