A Good Book

Waffle Flower Books & Coffee

My interest in making jewelry started a few years before I started making cards. It’s something I still enjoy doing, and I have collected so many beads over the years! One of the things I often make with my collection of beads is bookmarks.

Several weeks ago, I made this beaded bookmark as a gift for a friend who loves to read.

I thought the images from Waffle Flower’s Big Bear and Bird Books & Coffee stamp set would make the perfect card to go along with it. This stamp set has been part of my collection for a while. I had purchased it primarily to make cards for those in my life who love books.

The idea I had for this card was to create a scene where the cute animals are having fun picking out some books to read. While I used the Books & Coffee stamp set for the bear and bunny, I used the Bear & Bird stamp set for the bird. Both of these stamps sets are so versatile. They have so many images that can be used to build many different types of scenes! To create the background of books and shelves, I used the Hero Arts Bookcase rubber stamp. I love that this stamp has many books of different sizes arranged on a shelf.

To make this card, first I stamped everything onto white cardstock with Memento Tuxedo ink. Next, I colored all the images with my alcohol markers and cut them out with my scissors. To make the window frame, I used the A2 Arched Window die from Waffle Flower. I cut them out six times and glued them together to create a frame with dimension. Next, I arranged the frame on top of the book background until I was happy with the placement. Then, I traced the outer edge of the frame onto the background so I could cut it out and glue it to the frame.

I arranged the animals onto the panel. I decided to add foam squares to the back of the bear and bird so they would have some dimension and glued the bunny into the corner of the window. Next, I stamped out my sentiment and attached it to the frame. To finish the card, I cut out a card base to match and attached the finished panel onto it.

Waffle Flower Big Bear & Bird Books and Coffee

So many friends and family members of mine often get lost for hours in a good book. I think this is one of the reasons I like making bookmarks so much! Both of these projects were so much fun! I am excited to share this gift with my friend.

Thanks for stopping by! – Mona
