Hello, my friends! Hope everyone is having a good weekend! Today is a bit of a gloomy day so it was the perfect excuse for me to venture into my craft space and create a holiday card!
For this card, I used Waffle Flower’s Winter Hamsters stamp set and A2 Arch Window die. When I saw this stamp set, I just knew I had to have it! The hamsters are so cute and I plan on collecting more from this collection in the future.
To make this card, I stamped the images onto Bristol Smooth paper, used zig clean color real brush markers to color them in (see colors below in supply list), and cut them out. Next, I cut out the arched window and used a penblade and ruler to cut out the windowpane to create a bigger visual space for my images. I wanted to place my images on a snowy hill, so I cut out a stitched hillside border for the bottom of my card.
I created the background by blending three different distress oxide inks (see colors below in supply list) together over a piece of bristol smooth paper slightly larger than the window frame. Once I was happy with the blend, I splatted some white acrylic paint over it and set it aside to dry.
Once the background was dry, I placed the arched window frame over it and traced the outline with a pencil. Then, I took a pair of scissors and cut out what I had traced. Waffle Flower sells a nested die set that matches this window frame die but unfortunately, I don’t own it yet. So I found this method to work for now.
I assembled the card by first attaching the hillside to the bottom of the background. Then I glued on the window frame. Next, I attached all the hamsters to the hillside border and stamped the music notes around them. I stamped the sentiment using versamark ink and white embossing powder. Finally, I used some clear jewels to add some dimension. To finish the card, I attached the card front to a side folding notecard in the same shape as the arched window (once again, I had to trace and use scissors!).
This card was a lot of fun to make! These hamsters are so adorable, don’t you think?
Thanks for stopping by! – Mona
