Hello! I hope everyone had a good weekend! Ours was very quiet. I organized my craft room a bit and had a chance to make another holiday card!
For this card, I used images from Pretty Pink Posh. I am really trying to use stamps I’ve had in my collection for a while in different ways! I went through what I had and saw a stamp set I haven’t used in a really long time, Playful Puppies. I also used a bunch of other sets from Pretty Pink Posh to create a holiday scene on this slimline card, which I have listed below.
I stamped my images onto Bristol Smooth paper and I used my Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens to color them. Here are the colors I used:
- puppies: Oatmeal (64), Mustard (67), Warm Gray 2 (900), Mid Gray (96), Pink Haze (201)
- hats/presents/envelopes: Cobalt Blue (31), Light Blue (36), Light Green (41), Pale Green (45), Geranium Red (29), Violet (80), Lilac (83)
I also used Kuretake Gansai Tambi Watercolors in White Gold (906) to color the dog bones and Bluish Gold (91) to color some of the envelopes.
Usually, I use matching dies or my Brother Scan n Cut to cut out stamped images, but this time, I decided to cut them out by hand so they would not have a border around them. This process went a lot quicker than I thought it would!
Once I was done coloring and cutting, I cut out a slimline panel with the Gallery Frame #5 die from Hello Bluebird. For the outer frame, which had the scallop and stitching, I used a light blue cardstock, and for the window frame, I used white card stock. For the window background, I cut a piece of white cardstock slightly bigger than the window frame and marked the openings. I don’t own a slimline cloud stencil, so I took the cloud border die from the Mama Elephant Slimline card basics die set and cut a cloud border out of white cardstock. I used this and Distress Oxide Ink in Tumbled Glass to blend on a cloud background. Once I was done blending on the background, I attached the scallop border and window over it. Then I attached the card panel to a folded card base. I cut out the snowy hill from white card stock by using the hill die from the same Mama Elephant die set.
To finish this card, I glued the hill into each window. I placed the images over the card panel, and once I was happy with the placement, I glued everything in place. I used foam tape on some of the images to give my card some dimension. Finally, I stamped out my sentiment, cut it out, and attached it to the center of the rightmost window with foam tape.
I was really happy that I could reach into my existing inventory of stamp sets to make this card. I LOVE the new releases from my favorite stamp companies, but I really try and control myself from buying too much and focus on using sets I already own. I always have fun trying to come up with different ways to use them!
I hope I inspired you to look at your collection of stamps and re-use them for another design! Thanks for stopping by! – Mona
