Hi everyone! Today I am sharing a shaker birthday card I made using Mama Elephant’s Celebration Hamsters. This stamp set is filled with adorable hamsters and is perfect for birthday cards!
Stamping and coloring
I stamped the image onto Strathmore Bristol Smooth paper with versafine ink and cut it out with my Brother Scan-N-Cut. Then I colored it with the following Zig Clean Color Real Brush pens:
Hamster: Vanilla (73), Mustard (67), Light Pink (26)
Balloons: Pink Haze (201), Pale Orange (54), Pale Yellow (55), Green Shadow (49), Haze Blue (302)
Cutting card panel and ink blending
I covered a piece of white card stock with Mama Elephant’s In the Cloud Creative Cuts and ran everything through my die-cutting machine to create a cloud panel for the front of my card. Next, I cut a rectangle the same size as the cloud panel and created a cloud background using Salty Ocean distress ink over Lawn Fawn’s Cloudy stencil. I lightly blended the same ink over the edges of the cloud panel. Then, I turned the card panel around and adhered some acetate over the opening. Next, I added foam tape around the panel keeping the window portion open. I filled it with a colorful confetti mix, peeled off the paper from the foam tape, and added the cloud background to seal the card.
Adding sentiment and finishing the card
I cut out the sentiment several times by using Mama Elephant’s Hooray Script over white card stock and glued the pieces together so they would have dimension on my card. Next, I stamped part of a sentiment from Mama Elephant’s Birthday Messages with versamark ink over black card stock, sprinkled white embossing powder, and heat embossed it. After trimming the sentiment into a strip, I started assembling the card. I glued the hamster over the window portion of the card. Next, I attached the sentiments at the bottom to finish the card.
This card was so much fun to make! This stamp set has so many cute and adorable hamsters; I plan to use the rest of them on future projects. Check out my Instagram this blog for some more shaker card ideas!
