Hi everyone! Rachelle Anne Miller just released two new stamp sets, and today I am sharing a project I made with one of the new releases, Christmas Kangaroos. This illustration is so adorable and is perfect for a holiday card! I love how the baby kangaroo is looking up at their mother and is holding a candy can in their hand.
Printing, Coloring, and Ink Blending
I sized my image to fit within Mama Elephant’s Madison Avenue Framed Tag die. I printed it out with my laser printer, positioned the image within the die, and ran it through my die-cutting machine. Then, I used the following Copic markers and Prismacolor pencils to color the image:
Copics:
Kangaroo – E42, E41, E40, R20, R00
Kangaroo nose – E49, E47, E44
Hat – R27, R24, R22
Green – G28, G24, G21
Prismacolor Pencils:
Green – PC109
Red – PC924, PC926, PC122
Next, I printed the image onto masking paper, carefully cut it out, and placed it over the image. Then, I blended Distress Oxide in Tumbled Glass and Cracked Pistachio to create a sky and grass background.
Making the frame and finishing the card
I used the frame die to cut out several frames from white card stock. I glued them together so I would have some dimension on my card. Then, I stamped the sentiment from Pretty Pink Posh’s Winter Wonderland stamp set with versa mark ink onto black card stock. Next, I sprinkled white embossing powder over the sentiment, heat set it, and used Lawn Fawn’s Everyday Sentiments Banners die to cut out a strip. I attached the frame and sentiment strip to the colored card panel and added Pretty Pink Posh Metallic Silver Jewels to finish the card.
