Mama Elephant Fa La La Holiday Tags

Hi friends! As I sit here in mid December, I can’t help but wonder how this year went by so fast. I can hardly believe how close we are to Christmas and New Year’s.

One of my favorite things to create in paper crafting is gift tags. I am not sure if it is because they are such a small space to work with or because you do not have to overthink the design, but I absolutely love making them. Holiday tags, especially, are so much fun, and I think they add the perfect finishing touch to a beautifully wrapped gift.

The tags I am sharing today were made using products from Mama Elephant. For the images, I used the Fa La La stamp set. I adore all of the animals in this set and how they are happily singing Christmas carols. My favorites are the bunny and fox dancing to the music. I loved this image so much that I decided to create a coordinating card to go along with these tags, which I will be sharing later this month, so be sure to stay tuned.

Stamping & Coloring Details

To create the tags, I first stamped all of the images onto white cardstock and die cut them using the coordinating dies. I then colored everything with alcohol markers.

Ohuhu new color codes

  • Reds: R513, R016, R015, R013
  • Blue Greens: BG315, BG314, BG311, BG310

Copic

  • Bunny: E43, E31, E41, E40
  • Fox: YR18, YR14, YR12, E000, E00
  • Bear: YR23, E53, E51, E50
  • Lights: B000, B00, Y11
  • Sheet music: W1, W0, W00
  • Music notes: 100

Die-Cutting & Creating Background

Next, I die cut three tags using the Deckled Framed Dies. I blended Salvaged Patina Distress Oxide ink over the top of each tag, fading it out toward the bottom to leave some white space. To create a snowy background, I splattered white acrylic paint over the tags and let them dry completely.

Once dry, I adhered each animal to the tag using thin foam squares for a bit of dimension. The music notes were attached with liquid glue. Finally, I added twine to the top of each tag so they are ready to be tied onto a gift when the time comes.
